Date: Tuesday, 14 March, 2017
Time: 9:00am to 1:00pm
Venue:
TBC
St George, Queensland 4487

AgForce Projects and the Department of Natural Resources and Mines Coal Seam Gas Compliance Unit have been asked by the Balonne Shire Council to hold a community information session on coal seam gas (CSG), mining and the interactions with landholders and communities.

This workshop follows a request by council for general information to assist landholders and community members to better understand the industry and associated activities.

This workshop will provide attendees with the opportunity to learn more about the resources industry, the assessment process for projects and what landholders and community members should be aware of.

Since 2011, the CSG industry has been expanding across the Surat Basin and Western Downs region with the number of CSG wells more than doubling during this time and with significant development still to occur.

This workshop will provide attendees with the latest information regarding recent legislative changes, an overview of regional resource developments while also outlining the assessment process for new resource activities.

In addition, the workshop will provide attendees with:

  • An overview of the 2016 regional groundwater model identifying potentially impacted bores from CSG activity and distance from the St George region;
  • Explanation of the ‘Make Good’ framework if a bore becomes impacted by CSG; and
  • An overview of the land access process to negotiate an agreement with a resource company.

Registrations are essential. Location will be confirmed prior to the event after registration
