The first quarter of 2012 has been a busy period for our project. Already we have delivered 18 information sessions around Queensland and five of these have been in the AgForce North region.
Sessions have been held at Corfield, Alpha, Charters Towers, Mt Coolon and Bowen with around 100 people attending in total. Bob Shepherd (DEEDI) and landholders Noeline Dore (Cuba Plains), and Judy and Hannah Costello (Fanning Downs) (right) said the information session they attended in Hughenden was highly informative.
In March we saw an announcement by Exoma Energy that they plan to commence another stage in their drilling program in the Galilee Basin, with up to 22 wells being drilled this year. This drilling activity commenced in April and is being carried out in Exoma’s tenures around Longreach, Winton and Barcaldine. The following link will take you to the Exoma announcement with more information about these activities: Exoma update.
If you would like to find out who has tenure over your property please have a look at the Interactive Resource and Tenure Mapping Portal (IRTM). We have also developed a user guide on how to use the IRTM portal as it is quite complex, but if you have difficulties accessing it please contact us and we can have a look for you.
In the last month I have been contacted by some landholders who were recently approached by an exploration company called Pangaea Resources to conduct some exploratory drilling, including core samples, to define coal seams in their tenure around Winton. If results confirm the presence of considerable resources this may result in further drilling to define and sell this potential resource. What this highlights is the expansion of the industry in the Galilee Basin. This, along with coal exploration occurring further north around Richmond, Hughenden and Pentland, demonstrates why it is so important that landholders start to seek information and advice such as attending a CSG information session.
There are two legal representatives that will provide you with free of charge legal advice that is not means tested, so please use these resources: Glen Martin (Legal Aid Toowoomba) 07 4687 2934 or CQ Land Access Hotline 1800 557 992. See the legal advice page for more information.
