Southern Inland and South West CSG news

Throughout March and April the CSG Projects team delivered a number of landholder CSG information sessions and property computer mapping workshops across Queensland. In the SIQ region in early March the team hosted CSG landholder information sessions in Wallumbilla and Roma with good turnouts at both.

A session in Injune was cancelled due to low numbers, however on the day of the cancelled session landholders who had not registered (and therefore could not be notified of the cancellation) attended the venue to discover the session was cancelled. This reinforces how important it is to register for our sessions - if we don’t receive the numbers we can’t justify the session. Had all interested parties registered, the session may not have been cancelled.

A Santos property tour that I was scheduled to attend was unfortunately cancelled due to wet weather. Santos has advised that they will be scheduling tours for May and June so if you have not yet seen CSG infrastructure working on-property, I encourage you to either contact myself or Santos directly to get on the list.

Significant coal discovery near Charleville
In April an Australian based coal mining company, International Coal, advised that it had identified significant coal reserves at its South Blackall project, near Charleville. According to a shareholder announcement the company was well placed to become a leading developer of coal resources in the Eromanga Basin region and was looking at infrastructure opportunities in the South Blackall area.

If you would like to find out who has tenure over your property please have a look at the Interactive Resource and Tenure Mapping Portal. We have also developed a user guide on how to use the IRTM portal as it is quite complex, but if you have difficulties accessing it please contact us and we can have a look for you.

New company – Senex

Another relatively new player on the horizon is Senex energy, an oil and gas exploration company.  While most of their activities are taking place in the Cooper Basin, they also own four tenements in the Surat Basin and according to their website, are “undertaking an ambitious exploration program to unlock significant CSG reserves”.
